Spatial Instrument
Installation – with Another Space

An installation exploring the visualisation of spatial audio.
A spatial sound-reactive instrument created architecture from laser light. Visualising an omni-directional sound field, the installation’s visual behaviour was generated from the radial dimensionality of sound.
Using 410 fixed laser diodes and an overhead laser scanner, an audio reactive system analysed a score by Aidan Lavelle in real time and translated individual frequencies into a dynamic visual architecture.
